AMERICANA 2026 | Convidats i jurats d’aquesta edició

Everything is ready: Tomorrow we open the thirteenth edition of the Americana Film Fest at 8 PM at the Mooby Aribau with the national premiere of Late Fame.

Today we want to introduce you to the guests who will come to present their films of this edition. An opportunity to talk with the creators of part of this year’s program.

Directors of festival successes such as Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets, or Gasoline Rainbow, come to present a retrospective of their work in collaboration with the Filmoteca of Catalonia.

The co-director of Poser returns to Americana to present his new film: The Bulldogs, a documentary about the consequences of an environmental accident in New Palestine, Ohio and its inhabitants.

Screenwriter and filmmaker from New Jersey who currently resides in New York City. His work is heavily influenced by mumblecore. He will present his film Alice-Heart.

Actress and producer currently based in New York City. Lead actress and producer of her third film: Alice-Heart, with which she has won the Best Breakthrough Actress award at the Slamdance 2025 festival.

An image alchemist, Thierry began his career exploring the universe of post-production before fully diving into the fascinating world of directing. He will present his film Les fleurs sauvages.

Editor, director, programmer, and professor at UBI – University of Beira Interior. He has edited more than ninety films, among which is the one he will come to present: Nova ’78.

After an international career in the business world, he dedicated seven years to leading the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, helping to build community, awareness, and hope for thousands of people living with epilepsy. He is a producer of Under the Lights and will come to introduce it.

ACCEC Critics’ Jury

Alberto Richart | He is a film critic, cultural writer, and member of the ACCEC. He has studied the Master’s in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies at Pompeu Fabra University, and the Film Criticism workshop at La Casa del Cine.

Laura Blanco | She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and specialized in film at ESCAC and UPF. She is currently pursuing a doctorate on philosophy and film at Ramon Llull University.

Francisco Javier Millán | Journalist, writer, and professor of audiovisual production, regular collaborator of Inèdit Agencia, a Catalan agency specialized in educational and cultural topics, as well as of the programs Ágora on Aragón Radio and Espacio en blanco on RNE.

Once again, the students of La Casa del Cine will form the youth jury: Daniel Padilla, Aureli Del Pozo, Marina Parra, Ana Tortosa, Maria Antonia Zanoguera, Eider Duque, Ignasi Roche, Antonio Kostenko, Marc Sacristán, Edoardo Collini, David Ceresuela, Georgii Ovsiannikov, Àlex Romero, Judit Martínez, David Baqués, Shalom Longo García-Peñuela, Carolina Castilho, Francisco Valbuena, and Alba Iglesias.

FCC cineclub jury

Anna Beltran | Student of Audiovisual Communication at Pompeu Fabra University. Volunteer at the Patronato de Premià de Mar theater and cinema as a content creator and part of the Cineclub team.

Álvaro de Miguel | Director, screenwriter, and editor. He studied Film Directing in Madrid. He develops experimental, documentary, and fiction film projects, exploring personal concerns and experiences, using cinema as a vehicle for expression, creation, and healing.

Laia Borràs | Graduate in Film and Audiovisual Media from ESCAC, specializing in screenwriting. She develops her career between audiovisual creation and cultural management.

ATRAE Jury – Catalan language

Best subtitles in Catalan

Júlia Fuentes | She studied Translation and Interpretation at UAB (Barcelona) and attended various ATRAE courses on dubbing and subtitling, which sparked her passion for the audiovisual world and motivated her to pursue a Master’s in Audiovisual Translation at the same university.

Marina Torruella | She was captivated by the power of words ever since she began devouring novels (not literally). This, along with her passion for other languages and cultures, led her to study East Asian Studies at UAB and Audiovisual Translation at the University of Leeds.

Thais Buforn | She holds a diploma in Business Sciences and a degree in Business Administration (ADE), in Acting from the Barcelona Theatre Institute, and in Translation and Interpretation from UVic, where she has also been an assistant professor of Audiovisual Translation.

ATRAE Jury – Spanish language

Jara Segura | Translator of literary and audiovisual content. She has always felt a passion for languages. So much so that, as a child, she dedicated herself to trying to translate the songs from her favorite Disney Channel movies, like High School Musical. She graduated in Modern Languages, Culture, and Communication from UAM and later specialized in video game localization.

Rocío Rincón | She studied Translation and Interpreting at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she also completed the Master’s in Audiovisual Translation at UAB in 2014.

Yolanda Antón | Audiovisual translator since 2013 and, in addition to translation for dubbing and subtitling, she specialized in audiovisual accessibility after completing the European Master’s in Audiovisual Translation at UAB.
