What Doesn’t Float

Written by newcomer Shauna Fitzgerald and produced by Timothée’s sister, Pauline Chalamet (who also has a small role in the film), What Doesn’t Float is a dark comedy that satirizes human misery. It shines a light on people, situations, and places in New York that are often overlooked by Hollywood movies, which tend to focus solely on the city’s brighter side while ignoring its darker aspects.

Featuring a diverse cast of characters teetering on the brink of madness and nervous breakdowns, and narrated in an anthology-style format inspired by Damián Szifron’s Wild Tales, this movie offers an essential portrayal of a city that is often idealized. A small disclaimer: some stories in the film are based on true experiences of the filmmakers themselves
