The Novice

Winner of three awards at the Tribeca Festival, including one for Isabelle Fuhrman who debuted as the little girl in Orphan (2009), and nominated in five categories at the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards, including best direction and best actresses, The Novice is the tale of an obsession along the lines of Black Swan (2010) and Whiplash (2014). It has become one of the most anticipated indie releases of the year and will proudly inaugurate the 2022’s edition of Americana.

Strange and obsessive, Alex Dall (Fuhrman) is a queer college freshman who joins her university’s rowing team as a novice, with the intention of breaking all records and making it to the top varsity boat, no matter the cost. With all her excessive efforts, Alex pushes herself to the limits, risking her health and alienating everyone around.
