The camera follows the chaos that takes over the night as a large Italian-American family comes together probably for the last time. Over drinks and through trivial conversations, some seek to escape the monotony of the gathering, while others long to find deeper meaning in their lives. The youngest dart forward, while the oldest reminisce nostalgically. As the evening unfolds, some bonds weaken, while others grow stronger.
Far from the typical holiday clichés, filmmaker Tyler Taormina offers a poetic, fragmented, and introspective perspective in Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point. The film, which premiered at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and won the FIPRESCI Award at the Seminci, features a large ensemble cast that includes the children of famous cinema figures, such as Sawyer Spielberg and Francesca Scorsese, showcasing a new wave of talent, and combines the classic and modern cinema with Coca-Cola Christmas topics.
