The Baltimorons

Cliff, an unemployed comedian with a history of drinking problems, goes to his fiancée’s mother’s house for Christmas Eve dinner. An unexpected accident sends him to the dentist, where he encounters Didi, a disenchanted divorcee. What follows is a long, meandering evening in which chance encounters, deep emotions, and existential doubts intertwine.

The Duplass brothers, under Jay’s direction, offer a sweet romantic comedy reminiscent of Scorsese’s After Hours, featuring a beautiful omnipresent Baltimore, bathed in nighttime and Christmas lights. Genuine characters, intersecting lives, and impeccable performances serve a film that earned two Independent Spirit Award nominations, won the Audience Award at SXSW, and was named one of the National Board of Review’s Top Ten Independent Films.
