What would happen if a pill suppressed human emotions? A perfect society, decontextualized in place and time, feeds from the kindness of its residents thanks to a drug that is taken daily. Everything changes the day that the couple formed by Will (Nick Robinson) and Joy (Bel Powley) has to skip a dose for health reasons and discover a new feeling that had remained buried in the depths of their being: true happiness.
In his feature debut, The Sound of Silence (which screened at the Americana Film Festival), young filmmaker Michael Tyburski introduced us to two characters navigating the margins of society through the sounds of a city. Turn Me On follows its characters in the same margins, but this time, in a dystopian world. Boasting a stellar cast, including Justin H. Min (Shortcomings), one of last edition’s breakout stars, the film won the Youth Jury Award at the recent San Sebastián Film Festival.
