The Bulldogs

On February 3, 2023, a train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. Authorities evacuated residents, and the spilled chemicals were burned to prevent explosions. Two days later, locals were allowed to return to their homes. The Bulldogs is a documentary that chronicles what unfolded in the months that followed.

Noah Dixon and Ori Segev (Poser, 2021) capture in this documentary the testimonies of residents concerned about their health and unsettled by the official narrative surrounding the town’s situation. Through precise and meticulous editing, an intriguing and evocative soundtrack, and a mise-en-scène worthy of the finest fiction films, The Bulldogs constructs a powerful portrait of a handful of citizens who must decide whether to fight for their future in the town or build a new one elsewhere. The film was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2026 edition of Slamdance.
