There is a town lost in the middle of the desert where the turtles, or giant tortoises, move faster than time. That town is inhabited by all kinds of characters, each with its own unique story. Among them is the lone-wolf Lucky, a 90-year-old atheist who faithfully sticks to his old routine: exercising, having coffee at the diner, doing his crossword puzzles and, of course, watching game shows on TV. Thanks to his robust health, the veteran Lucky outlived all his contemporaries, and we see him as he embarks on a spiritual journey with his eyes set on his extravagant surroundings and a very dark future.
Well-known actor-turned-director John Carroll Lynch presents a grand movie and a posthumous tribute to the legend of the independent cinema Harry Dean Stanton (Alien, Paris Texas, Wild at Heart). Possibly one of the best films of the year, Lucky has received rave reviews from critics and at festivals such as SXSW and Locarno. A staggering performance by Stanton, as well as a brilliant cast trained by legendary film directors such as David Lynch, Tom Skerritt and Ed Begley Jr., are among the essential elements that make Lucky an unforgettable film.
