Jill (Mistress America’s Lola Kirke) works as a personal assistant for Hollywood starlet Heather Anderson (Zoë Kravitz), with whom she has a special relationship. One day, after running a morning errand for Heather, Jill walks upon an unexplained, violent crime that will put their bond to the test. As the events unfold, Jill travels through L.A. in the hope of clearing her name and solving the mystery. During her own investigation,—which will challenge her perception of friendship, truth and stardom—Jill will need to be very careful to stay one step ahead of detective Edward Ahn (Colombus‘ John Cho).
With features like Quiet City (2012) and Land Ho! (2014), American indie filmmaking antihero Aaron Katz established himself as a key figure of the mumblecore genre. His thriller Gemini remarkably channels the 90s alternative cinema of cult directors such as De Palma, Lynch and Curtis Hanson. Katz and his particular vision of the neo-noir bring the audience to immerse in an oniric B movie atmosphere. His unique and elegant tribute to detective movies was screened at prestigious festivals such as SXSW and Locarno and received international praise from critics. From L.A. at night to Americana, here comes Gemini.
