Catch the Fair One

Kaylee (Kali Reis), a former Native American boxing champion, embarks on a journey of no return to the underworld of Buffalo in the hope of finding her missing sister who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Set in the frozen landscapes of rural America, this thriller is full of bleak and manipulative characters, and its careful aesthetics and frenetic rhythm really grip the audience.

Winner of the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, Catch the Fair One stands as one of the most promising films of 2022. Reis gives a strong performance as the main protagonist. As a real-life boxer and two times world champion, she convincingly embodies the character of Kaylee. Director Josef Kubota Wladyka leads this brutally fierce thriller with a steady hand and shows promise as a filmmaker who doesn’t shy away from portraying the arduous path of his characters. With an atmosphere reminiscent of Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners and running for only 85 minutes, this revenge-thriller will leave you wanting more.
